FAQ

A: Yes.

Q: What do I need to bring with me?
A: Your pet and your pet's vaccination records (unless we already have them or your vet faxed them to us).  We prefer all dogs to have a leash and collar in case of an emergency.  You may bring a carrier for your pet but it is not required.

Q: How long does my pet have to stay?
A: Most grooming sessions average three (3) hours.  Sometimes it may take longer due to circumstances outside of Paw Prints' control.  Four (4) hours is generally the longest.  We always try to get your pet in and out as quickly as possible and will call you as soon as your pet is finished.

A: Sure! Paw Prints welcomes pets to stay with us all day!  We have plenty of room.  If you would like your pet to stay all day please make sure you tell us when you drop him/her off.  We are happy to stay a few minutes after closing also if you don't get off work until 5 pm.

Q: When should I get my puppy's first haircut?
A: Paw Prints prefers to start puppies with an introductory grooming around 12 weeks of age - or after the pet has had two rounds of distemper vaccinations.

A: Probably.  We don't guarantee results with biting dogs.  However, Erika has rehabilitated many biting dogs that are now muzzle free for grooming.  Please call for more information on how we handle biting dogs.  There is an automatic $10 additional fee for all aggressive animals.

Q: My cat bites.  Will you groom him?
A: It depends on the severity of the biting problem.  Please call for more information.

Q: Can I stay with my pet while he is groomed?
A: Generally, no.  Most pets do better with their owners absent.  While they are being groomed their focus needs to be on the groomer.  When a pet parent is around it is hard for the pet to stay focused.  If we ever have a situation where we believe it would be best to have an owner stay we certainly arrange it.

Q: I want to watch.  Can I?
A: Our salon is set up so you can watch pets being groomed.  We ask two things if you wish to do this: 1. Please don't watch your own pet (they won't listen to us!)  2. Please don't talk to the animal and if you see him starting to react to your presence, please leave.

Q: I want to learn how to groom.  Will you teach me?
A: I only train groomers when I need a groomer.  I am not currently in need of a groomer.
